It has been my life’s dream to visit Hawaii ever since I was really young. Something about the laid back, flip-flops everyday, warm sunshine, surfing culture really attracted me, especially in winter months because I’ve never enjoyed cold weather. I grew up in South Carolina, so going to the beach was a fairly frequent event, and I preferred to spend my time there obsessed with bodyboarding because it was cheaper and our small waves were more conducive to it, but I would pretend I was a surfer and our trips never seemed long enough. Finally last fall, after some very diligent money saving, Rob and I had the opportunity to spend a month in Hawaii, visiting Maui, Kauai, and Honolulu on Oahu. We snorkeled, surfed, went on a terrifying helicopter ride, learned how to windsurf (fun!) and kiteboard (I was TERRIBLE), went hiking and exploring, and broke our condo’s mini fridge with an ice pick and spent a day trying to track down a replacement in rural Kauai (much harder than you would think). I also finally shot my first roll of Fuji Provia slide film, which I loved and would shoot all the time if it wasn’t so expensive to buy and didn’t cost twice as much to develop/scan as negative film. It was the kind of trip that I know not everyone gets to take and I am beyond grateful for the chance. Now I can’t stop dreaming about going back…
I’m only about 7 months late posting these but I’ve been busy with design work and a few other things I have in the works these days. Better late than never! 🙂
